Richard Oberdorfer Joins GNS Law Group’s Top-Tier Legal Team in Portland Oregon
Gilroy Napoli Short Law Group is proud to announce that Richard Oberdorfer has joined our firm as a criminal defense attorney, working primarily out of our Portland office. Richard brings decades of focused DUI and criminal defense experience to our team, along with a reputation for careful case analysis, strong courtroom advocacy, and clear client communication.
A Proven DUI and Criminal Defense Advocate in Oregon
For more than 20 years, Richard has built a practice centered on DUII and driving-related criminal matters. He is known for digging into the details that often decide the outcome of a DUI case, including police procedure, the reliability of field sobriety tests, and the science behind alcohol and drug impairment allegations. Clients value his practical guidance and steady approach, especially when a case threatens a driver’s license, employment, or professional reputation.
Joining an Outstanding Team in Portland
Richard will be working alongside Gilroy Napoli Short’s top-tier team of trial lawyers, including founding partners John Gilroy, Jeff Napoli, and Jason Short. Our attorneys collaborate closely on strategy, motion practice, and trial preparation, which means clients benefit from a team-driven approach that is built for high-stakes cases. With Richard based primarily in the Portland office, our Portland-area clients will have even more access to experienced DUI and criminal defense representation backed by firm-wide resources.
“Richard’s depth of DUI defense experience, his command of the science that shows up in these cases, and his steady, client-first approach make him an exceptional fit for our team,” said Jeff Napoli, Managing Partner at Gilroy Napoli Short Law Group. “We are excited to welcome him and expand the resources we can bring to clients who need serious advocacy when the stakes are high.”
Recognized Leadership in DUI Defense
Richard’s work has earned consistent recognition within the Oregon legal community. He has been selected to the Oregon Super Lawyers and previously was named a Rising Star in DUII defense. He has also been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America in the field of DUI/DWI Defense. Beyond awards, Richard is widely respected for the way he approaches complex DUI issues with a mix of legal precision and real-world understanding of what clients are going through.
Education, Experience, and Ongoing Professional Involvement
Richard earned his Juris Doctor from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2001 and has been licensed in Oregon since 2001. Over the course of his career, he has also been a frequent lecturer on DUII, alcohol and drug pharmacology, and driving-related topics. That background translates directly into the kind of detail-oriented advocacy clients need when a case involves complicated evidence or contested impairment allegations.
